It's Valentine's Day. [Feb. 14th, 2005|10:17 am]
[mood | loved]
[music |Shrek 2 Soundtrack]

Today's the day in which I would cancel all my classes and spend the day with my sweetheart. I'm not entirely sure about what we would do with the day...maybe sleep in and go out to a nice place for dinner. And when she would least expect it I would shower her with gifts and all the love and affection that she deserves. I love you, Amanda, with my entire heart and soul.

Ice and snow in Carrollton. [Jan. 29th, 2005|02:09 pm]
[mood | aggravated]

I woke up this morning and found the world covered in a thick layer of cold stuff. This is Georgia; this isn't supposed to happen! I had made plans to go get some stuff today, but when I went out to see how things were I found the whole ground was covered in a thick layer of ice, along with my car. I managed to get most of it off the car, but I didn't want to risk going out in the snow and wrecking it. Guess I'll save my errands for another day.

Tonight I pissed off an anime fan. [Jan. 27th, 2005|10:55 pm]
[mood | apathetic]
[music |2x2=Shinobuden Theme]

Yeah, so before the anime club I was talking with this guy about all kinds of different anime. We talked some about DBZ, then I made a comment on how I thought Naruto, a newer anime title, was a lot like DBZ. I drew some parallels between the main characters, and this girl in the corner speaks up really loud and yells at me for insulting Naruto just because I don't like it. The thing of it is, I didn't insult Naruto OR say I didn't like it, so naturally I went on, drawing more parallels between the other characters and the plots of the two series. Most of the people in the room laughed, or at least understood where I was coming from. She, however, stood up and yelled out really loud that she was going back to her room, and stormed out the door before turning and yelling at me that I was a bastard. She then turned on her heel and left as I shouted after her. "Yeah, I am! It's because I have an opinion!"

I meant no harm. In fact, I was trying to be funny. I don't understand what got her so worked up; nobody else in the room had an angry reaction, even though I'm certain some of the other members enjoy Naruto. I decided not to feel guilty about angering her, though the awkward pause after she left was a bit unsettling. The rest of the club went over well though. Nobody said anything to me about it, or even seemed to care much. I guess it's all good, but now I'm worried about my sweetheart. She's usually online, but this time she's not, and her journal says she had a small fight with her mom. I'm worried the tyrant has yanked her internet connection, which she's been known to do. That'd cut me off from my girlfriend completely, except for the few odd calls every now and then. I don't want that. It'd hurt her too much.

Chinese food, Monk, and Sonic. [Jan. 24th, 2005|10:07 am]
[mood | exhausted]

This weekend was an enjoyable one. Friday night began the fourth season of Monk, which as of right now is probably my favorite show. It's the only one I feel compelled to watch on a regular basis, so that has to count for something. They made a big change this season; Monk's assistant Sharona Fleming (played by Bitty Schram) has been replaced. The new assistant to Monk is a woman named Natalie Teeger, played by Traylor Howard. At first I was a little wary of the change, but Traylor's a good actress and she plays her character well, so no complaints there.

The rest of my weekend was spent primarily sleeping in and playing Sonic Heroes. My memory card corrupted a few weeks ago and erased all the data on it, so I had to re-format it. Now I'm restoring all of the data I lost, starting at Sonic Heroes and ending at...Sonic Heroes. Yeah, that was the only data I had worth fighting for. Oh well. The only other thing that happened worth mentioning is that last night I went out for Chinese with my roommate Jose. We were out returning a video and didn't want to eat at the apartment, so we stopped by a Chinese buffet on the way home. I ate enough Sesame chicken to kill a lesser man, though their Crab Rangoon wasn't worth anything.

Work it out, work it out [Jan. 18th, 2005|06:58 pm]
[mood | cheerful]
[music |We Can--Sonic Heroes]

Today me and my friend Jose went to the school's gym and worked out. Yeah, that's right, I worked out. I lifted weights until I was sore then ran to the cafeteria, where I had a more or less healthy dinner before walking back to the apartment. Jose did better at the weightlifting, but I did better at the running, so we figure that makes us about even. We also met a guy at the gym who was pretty cool. As it turns out, all three of us have military or ex-military fathers who used to push us to work out in one form or another, so now we all work out on occasion just because of that, and we all have names that start with J. Bizarre coincidence, but a cool one, I guess. Me and Jose are gonna try to go to the gym at least once a week to try and get us fit. I dunno why he's doing it, but I'm doing it to get some definition on my arms, legs, and abs, so as to look good for my girlfriend. Not too much, I don't wanna be a freaky body builder lookin' guy, just enough to make me not look like I sit at my computer all day doing nothing. Y'know, enough to the point where it looks like I get out some.

Good weekend. [Jan. 17th, 2005|09:48 pm]
[mood | hyper]
[music |We Can--Sonic Heroes]

It's been a long weekend. It's the first one I've had in 3 years where I got Martin Luther King Day off, so I had a spare day to play around with. I got all my homework done. I played tons of games, got a new livejournal icon that I can change with my little ninja guy, watched old Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons and got a big hit of nostalgia, but best of all was the call from me girlfriend! I loved hearing her voice, and I can't wait to hear it again. It's been a perfect weekend, and now I don't wanna go to class tomorrow.

Class schedule, what! [Jan. 7th, 2005|03:15 pm]
[mood | ecstatic]

Got my class schedule today. It's very busy-looking, but I imagine I'll adjust. My earliest class is at 9 and my latest one is at 3:30, so I'll have plenty of time for homework and the like. Now I just wait for Monday to roll around.

Today is a day to remember. [Jan. 4th, 2005|10:57 pm]
[mood | chipper]
[music |What I'm Made Of--Sonic Heroes]

First I woke up at about 8 o'clock from a nightmare about some wierd slug-like aliens that attacked my girlfriend. I packed my car, feeling unusually wary about the whole house, then after a slight hold up over some papers and things I needed to bring, I began the hour and a half drive to my new school and apartment. I arrived at roughly 10 o'clock, signed my lease, and began to move in.

Moving in was a team effort; one of my roommates was here and he helped. The first thing I did was get the boxes of clothes out of the way by shoving them randomly into my wardrobe, then I took care of my computer, then made my bed, then settled the accessories. Things like lamps, and CD holders, and my TV, and food, and etc. Around 11:30 I finally finished unpacking and had lunch (a big bowl of rice) and went out to the job help building on campus. They gave me some phone numbers to call, which I'll do tomorrow. After we got the job info we came home and played an hour of Guilty Gear XX. I won an inordinate amount of matches, but I've been practicing more, so...yeah. Anyhow, after that we went to Wal-Mart after some light bulbs for one of the aforementioned lamps, an adventure because of finding the place and then returning home by way of a Chevron so I could get gas for the car.

We got home, cooked some dinner and watched an anime based on an obscure fighting game called Variable Geo. The plot is non-existant and the repeating themes are negligible; needless to say we sat making fun of it the entire time. Afterwards we had an adventure with PS2 controllers, trying to figure out why one of the ones here wouldn't work. We took it apart and put it back together several times before we finally got it right. Afterward I came in here, made sure my internet was working, ran a virus scan, and that was the end of my day. Hopefully tomorrow will be more relaxed.

Not such a bad day. [Dec. 28th, 2004|01:32 am]
[mood | calm]
[music |What I'm Made Of--Sonic Heroes]

I spent some more Christmas money. I got the latest Ranma (number 28, funny as hell) and the Sonic Heroes soundtrack (hooray for good game music). Came home, played some Mario Kart, and built some Legos...got some quality time with me girlfriend. She's got it rough right now...she feels bad, got laid off at work...poor girl. She's asleep right now, curled up in bed and looking like a perfect angel, I know it. I love you, sweetheart. I hope you feel better in the morning.

I smell like...what? [Dec. 16th, 2004|10:39 pm]
[mood | groggy]

The most bizarre statement made to me in a long while was this, spoken upon my return home from work:

"You smell like man."

Now, this is a fairly obvious, straight-forward statement. I just finished working, I'm a male of the human species...it works. Everything fits, nothing's false about that statement. But something about it is bothersome. Oh, it's not a bad thing, to be a human male that smells like man. But it was disconcerting to hear it.

Vent [Dec. 11th, 2004|01:37 am]
[mood | irritated]

I hate it when people hold grudges for things that happened so long ago that either nobody remembers them or the offense doesn't even matter anymore. I'm sick to death of people making fun of other people who don't deserve it, bashing them behind their backs or to their faces because they can, and because they don't like some minor aspect of their victim's personality. It's petty and immature, but somehow the people just don't see that. They think they're justified, they're right, they're high and mighty and mature, level-headed adults, and the person they're attacking is not any of those things. It just pisses me off.

Seasonal Job [Dec. 10th, 2004|09:38 am]
[mood | exhausted]

I got a seasonal job helping UPS drivers deliver packages quicker by running boxes to houses. My legs, back, and shoulders hurt, I'm tired more than I ever have been, but I'm being paid more than 8 dollars an hour to do this, so I'll survive. So far I've been attacked by three dogs, and have never finished before nightfall. However, getting home to a warm meal, shower, and loving girlfriend makes it all feel better.

Thanksgiving break [Nov. 28th, 2004|10:37 pm]
[mood | chipper]

The flight to North Carolina was riddled with hang-ups. Security stopped me several times for varying reasons, ranging from my carry-on backpack to my expired license to my ticket. The flight was delayed an hour due to weather, then another half hour as they cleared up trouble with the crew. I arrived an hour and forty-five minutes late, and made it home with little trouble otherwise. We had dinner and I played games and went to bed. Ossum.

Next day is Thanksgiving. Lunch at the step-family's, dinner at dad's family's. Dad's family > Step-Family.. Mema and Papa ALONE are more awesome than my step family. I had fun and generally enjoyed myself. Cool.

NEXT DAY! We planned a cookout in our backyard with Dad's family. Had a small, brief, but heated skirmish with step-mom about how to "properly" make a bed. Apparently I can't do it right, or something. Anyhow, after that we had a fire and roasted hotdogs with the family and it was good.

MORE NEXT DAY! The day of shopping. Got dragged all over the nearest towns to go to stores I don't like for step-mother's sake. Came home after, got an early Christmas gift from step-grandmother (the only cool step-relative I've got in North Carolina), then came home and watched the Blue Collar Comedy Tour with my cousin Brent, Dad, and Anthony. Funny as hell. Step-mom disapproved, but meh. After Brent and I played Front Mission 4 (excellent game) and watched the latest Godzilla movie. Rock.

Today! Went to church and was bored. Have resolved never to attend that church again unless Justin is giving a lesson/sermon. Got to the airport 3 hours early, blew through security with no trouble, bought a book, and then read it until I landed in Atlanta. Had trouble finding luggage, but eventually made it home. Now I'm sitting here, unpacked, spending quality time, and being happy. Huway.

The Last Long Ride Home [Nov. 23rd, 2004|02:19 pm]
[mood | content]

The last one began today at 10:05 and ended at 2:00. Along the way I faced adverse weather, stupid drivers, 4 cops, and the task of eating Krystal's fast food while driving. I listened to all three of my "The Long Ride Home" CDs, and rounded out the trip with some happy, uplifting rock songs provided by my favorite radio station. Now I'm home, safe and sound, trying to decide if I want to unpack first or play video games. Probably I'll play a while, then tonight hook up my computer for a bit of quick snuggling with my sweetheart. I missed you, luv, I missed you terribly last night and during the ride home today. I'll see you tonight.

Advance Warning [Nov. 20th, 2004|08:32 am]
[mood | groggy]

Monday mom is coming to unload my room and take all my stuff home in the van. I'll probably let her take all she can hold, which should be everything I've got including my computer. So no Jake Monday night. What's left will move out to my car and be taken away Tuesday. I plan to return my keys Monday, so I can not have to bother with it on Tuesday, and thus facilitate a fast escape.

I will try to come online Tuesday night, but I make no promises as I have to prepare to fly to North Carolina to visit my Dad over Thanksgiving. I'll have very little internet access, so don't anyone expect to see me very much during that visit. I'll try to drop notes and things in here, but there are no guarantees.
